Ah shit, I think I just squandered the weekend. Ah, how true my prediction became. Weekend: squandered. Yeah, I'm not going to the Leap after all today. Things got "complicated," let's say. I won't miss the pretty much 7 hours (if you don't hit some inexplicable Bay Area weekend traffic jam) of driving for a day trip though! I think I'll go to my local choss instead. Hopefully I can get a full weekend at The Leap or Tuolumne next weekend. The RP FTW will have to wait. Since I already told Dave via email, it was something called Magnum Force on the Main Wall, Snoop. I TRd it clean as a n00b, like 4 years ago, but I hear it is a pretty good lead. CI followed it, so the RP FTW was the only option left. That sucks about the Leap. 3.5 hours each way for a day trip, though? That's crazy. Luckily it's just over 2 each way for Joshua Tree, and just under 2 for Tahquitz (unless I get stuck behind a slow asshole who won't use turnouts on the 243). When you're in Phoenix, you'll have to come to Tahquitz for a long weekend at some point. It's the original home of LADD climbing. Yeah, maybe closer to 3 if you're FLYING, but you run into weird traffic even in Nor Cal. The way back? Forget about it. The whole Bay is coming back and a few weekends ago we had an hour added to our commute back. I'm not so averse to the drive when I have somebody to travel with, but I would have been solo today. It's probably for the best. Around 2 hours to quality climbing? That's like when I lived in Sacramento, except you have way more at your disposal. I definitely want to hit Taquitz one of these days. That should increase my LADD credentials! For Tahquitz you also have to add half an hour or more (depending on where your route starts) of hiking to the approach. Jay or Jack will have to be the arbiter of what counts as quality sport climbing, but in the winter it's an hour drive for me to Echo Cliffs (plus a half-hour hike), half-hour drive to Malibu (plus 20 minutes or so hike), and some drive around an hour to the Riverside Quarry that I've never actually made. For the summer, Williamson is a bit under 1.5 hours, but it's been closed by the MYLFs. I imagine Frogland is a similar distance. Big Bear area is around 2, but I only go there if it's really hot, because it's usually 5-10 degrees cooler at Big Bear than Idyllwild. Wow. That's a lot of climbing. We've got stuff in the two hour range, but nothing really worth mentioning. I think Phoenix will actually have plenty of options in the 2 hour range. Too bad I'll be moving there in summer! I guess I'll have to go to Flagstaff where it's higher in elevation and cooler. There are quite a few places that have some elevation that you can go to in the summer. It might be a little warm, but at least its a dry heat.

You dread loosing you 1st page looser status more than anything? We have both passed Brent and have a pretty decent lead. Last time I passed him it wasn't by much and he quickly passed me again. Both times he seemed so far ahead. Brent seems to have lost some interest, so i am not worried about him passing me... Just wait until he gets back to school and has a high speed connection. Right now he has dial-up, can you blame him for not coming on? That and he is too busy shoving his tonge down Laura's throat. Then again maybe he still won't have time.

Maybe we should tell wide that you have to climb for it to make sense? I see in the coffee thread he won't sell his climbing gear because his wife won't let him. It would disrupt his hardcore image? No more suspension bondage??? They do make special equipment for that so you don't have to get your climbing stuff dirty.
