it's been a few days since I had noticed that something was wrong with the "new" answers, but now I'm sure : if I "mark all read" from the main forum page, no new answer appear : it seems OK. But then I move somewhere else (on another website) and come back 2 seconds later... vlam! "new" answers again for the same threads of the same forums (and I don't speak here of the Back to the recovery room thread!). I have IE.

did you reload the page or just moved back in history? because if you did and the page was stored in your catche, it would appear as if you didnt click the 'mark all read' button, but the forums you move to afterwards should be marked read. anyway, i open the link with 'mark all read' in a new tab now because i once just clicked it and then forgot about it and every time i reloaded what i thought was forum index, it would come up with no new posts. and i just tested it and its working fine for me.

Reloading. Still doing it today, in a weird way : I mark all read > no new post > I go in any forum > no new post > I go to the main page > no new post > I go anywhere on the web then come back to rccom > same posts marked as unread... But sometimes it works fine, or the whole threads would eventually be "new"... go figure!

The problem is still going on, but I noticed something I hadn't noticed before : if the Main Page says that there are some new posts, if I go to any forum with supposed new posts, they are all mark read. It looks like there is a problem of communication between each forum and the Main Page... I noticed something else : I have no "Mark all read" button in the campground forum (maybe it's lacking in a few other forums as well, i didn't check them all). Is there a reason for that?

I'm ABSOLUTELY sure that Ive seen a "Mark all read" button in some forums otherwise I wouldn't have posted this! I can't find one right now! (fantastic series of emoticons!) right now (time I edit this post), I have one "Mark All read" option in and only in the US Midwest forum, option that disappears if I mark all read. But in other forums with new posts, I don't have this option. Or is it for New unread threads and not for unread posts of existing threads? that might be an explaination...

Even if you not used the 'mark all read' button, posts and threads are randomly marked as new again. Today I came back and found 'ask the noob' as with new posts in the 'my topics' section. The first unread i was guided to was on page two(!), though I read the whole thing at least three times right now. - Daniel

yep, still bugging. My solution is 1/ to mark all read 2/ leave IE 3/ connect to IE again I don't know if it works for other people, though.

Actually, I also see some funky behaviour now and then. I have no idea what causes it. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. DDT

Is there a way to mark an entire thread as read? The recent technical screwup made it such that the system now thinks I haven't read any of the BET. So instead of jumping to the end, it sends me to the first page (well, now I'm up to the third page). I could manually clear it out, but there's 3800+ pages. Any idea a) why this happened, or b) how to fix it?
