Ok so is there any good sport climbing near UCSD? Give me your honest opinion- how long it takes to get there/ quality/ quantity/ difficulty? I am applying to graduate school there and, although it won't ultimately make or break my decision, it could make or break my day....

San Diego isn't exactly a sport climbing mecca, but there's some fun stuff around town. Some of these areas are threatened with closure. Read more about it at http://www.alliedclimbers.org.
El Cajon Mountain - 30 min drive from UCSD, 1hr approach; 5.6 to 5.12+, mostly sport, up to 5 pitches.
Pitch 5 of Commander, 5.12a
Being and Nothingness (Pitch 4) 5.11
Triton (Pitch 2) 5.10b
Eagle Peak - 1 hour drive, 30 minute approach; 5.9-5.12, mostly sport, up to 3 pitches
Soy Chango - 5.11b
Crazy Horse - pitch 1 5.12b
Crazy Horse - pitch 3 5.11a
Prime Rib - 5.12b
Corte Madera - 1.5 hr drive, 30 minute approach; mostly sport, to 3 pitches.
Valley of the Moon - 1.5 hr drive (with 30 min of 4x4 road); Sport and some trad, mostly single pitch.
Then of course, there's Mission Gorge which pretty much sucks, but it's close - 15-20min from UCSD. It's decent for some training, but it's no destination.

whoa those pictures are pretty rad... i haven't done more than 2 pitches of sport at a time, that kinda looks enticing...

try Mission Gorge. lots of short sport routes. Check this web sight for route info.
