This is a quick easy option if your soundcard supports it (modern ones do, my work laptop does not) and only need 60 seconds or less.

Open Volume Control

Open the Properties

Select "Recording" and check the box for "What U Hear" if it exists. Hit OK

Record using Sound Recorder. Then find a converter from .WAV to .MP3

The better but tougher option for recording is using a Disk Writer output plugin for Winamp. It records what it "hears" to a file. For it to "hear" the YouTube audio, you need a mic/linein plugin that lets you open "mic://" or "linein://" with winamp. Then, since I don't have the "What U Hear" option, I run a microphone style cable from Speaker Out looped back to Mic In.

I'm sure there is software as well I just wanted to use Majid Sabet (MS) Paint

There is no "microphone" involved, you are just using the microphone input. You can use Line-In just as well. The electrical signal is simply going out your speaker output and back to your input.

I've been able to record ~220kbps but haven't tried higher.

[edit] I read this morning that RealPlayer 11 is out in beta and supports recording of streaming video, such as YouTube. Check it out, it'll probably do what you want.

If you want to copy audio from youtube with high quality, you should use some youtube converter, which can not only help you get audio form youtube online, but also help you rip audio form dowloaded youtube videos on your computer. So, you just copy the above mentioned URL address, and it can help you get the audio file automatically.

Easiest way I know and use regularly is to download real player its free and can be downloaded at:
www.real.com

make sure you download the convertor program too.

Then install, open youtube video, roll mouse over the video and you should see a little tab pop up saying download with real player. Click that, download (it will download to c:\...\my videos\real player downloads\
Once downloaded you can either open the convertor program or do it directly from the download manager.

Once the convertor is open you can select the type of conversion you want, one option under custom conversion is to convert to audio only and you can decide the kpbs and file type to work with nearly any MP3/ipod/iphone/ipad

if you have any questions let me know, behind the contact lenses, devilishly good lucks, and charm is a computer nerd.

Cheers and safe and happy climbing

Eli

Ummmmm.

By FAR, the easiest way is to go to http://wwww.listentoyoutube.com and just use their app. No registering, no e-mails needed, no downloading applications, and very simple.
