after-climbing bug

Something funny happens to me every once in a while. I go climbing and really enjoy it; I have absolutely no mental problems there, but when I come home, and think about it for a bit, my mind bugs me about ego related stuff like "why didn't you onsight that route" or "you should have climbed x route faster" stupid things like that. Could any of you rock warriors help me out?

Thanks

Hello sky7high,
Well...our mind tends to dwell on the end result and how that end can make us comfortable. Being able to onsight or climb faster would make your mind feel better about your effort. Know this tendency of your mind and simply dismiss it. Next redirect attention on what you intend to do next time to improve your ability to onsight or climb faster.
You must develop an appropriate relationship with your mind. It will distract your attention to things (ends) it wants, but these drain attention away from the learning process. You need to learn something to improve onsighting or whatever. Keep attention on that.

if you could do everything you wanted to when climbing, you may get bored. just be stoked on what you did, and know what you need to work on. there's no reason to dwell on what you didn't do. everything takes time. enjoy what you got.
