I want to go to Railay over Christmas / New Year break, but I'm a little nervous about the crowds. Are hotel rooms hard to find without reservation? Will they be terribly overpriced? Do you have to stand in line for popular climbs?

High season is from December to the end of Feburary. There is a change in number over the Xmas/New Year break. But when I was last there at the beginning of Dencember there where are about 3 or 4 climbers waiting for the popular routes.

Thanks rickeden, that's quite helpful to know. I may end up going to Hampi, my other trip option. Thailand may have to wait till next time.
