Performance Enhancing Drugs???

So, if you look at professional sports these days, you see a trend, more and more athletes are being caught using performance enhancing drugs. I follow track a lot and you see sprinter after sprinter being caught using them, Marion Jones just recently. Baseball, football, and it isn’t just the big heavy athletes, cycling and distance running are plagued with drugs too.

So......what about climbing? How many climbers on the world climbing circuit do you think are on something?

I mean, drugs aren’t going to make some one into Sharma, but they can sure help cut back on those training injuries. Imagine being able to train your ass off every day, day after day, only getting stronger and without the worry of injury.

Anyone here been plagued by injuries and thought about it?

With all the performance enhancers out there, I just have to wonder…

There have been rumors floating around about steroid use in the high-end climbing world for quite some time.

I hate to be like everyone else this weekend, but try a search. It seems like it was discussed on here at one point. Maybe it was somewhere else I saw it though?

I might add caffeine can really give you a lift when climbing if you don't normally use it.

With competition comes the desire to gain an advantage, for some in whatever way they can. I am sure it won't be long before we start hearing more about performance enhancers and climbing.
Oxygen, drugs that prevent edema, and drugs that will boost one's energy are often used by those who have decided that getting up Everest is the only thing that matters in life.

Yes. No need for anyone to wonder anymore: You have been lied to about steroids

for some reason caffeine totally demolishes my technique. i start shaking, my footwork control is below par, i overgrip etc...

now, i rather go climbing with a hangover than drink coffee before.

If you think coffee gives you the shakes try climbing on methamphetmine. I nearly buzzed right out of my brain and had to keep climbing for nearly 24 hours or my heart felt like it was going to implode.
