There were a few holds chopped off the lower section. When the route was vandalized a few years ago, the chopped holds were visible by black exposed rock. i don't know if weathering has changed the color back to the normal orangy/brown traprock color. The consensus on the route is solid 11 before and I spoke to someone who has climbed it alot before and after and they felt route was about the same difficulty.

Hi all , I would like to get back into climbing after a 7 yr absence from it and could use a partner to give me a refresher course. I go past the crag in Woodbury on my way home from work so woodbury would be a good location. I have only my harness and some biners left but will purchase shoes soon.thanks!

Ha ha... Look at the burn on my arm...

Yeah, I really need some time off... I did spend the weekend with Colden climbing on Crane Mountain in the Adirondacks... Backcountry climbing with a 4 year old? Yes, it is possible.

Hey there-
I am in manchester. I am a beginner but have been out of climbing shape for 2 years. Looking for peeps to do Pinnacle or whatnot in nice weather. I have my own beginners gear (shoes, helmet, harness, some biners).

Would love to get some people together to hit up some rock!

I was on the IR list. It's going to take a couple of weeks for me to make the starting lineup again, but i'm willing to put the effort in. I headed out on tuesday after work in the evening. Rich climbed all over kor crack on the lead (but unfortunately, not in the upwards direction.) We bailed off it and decided to let me take a crack at onsighting broadway, and if there was time we would give a shot at YMC. Unfortunately both my head and body are out of shape, so though i climbed it clean, i also climbed it very slowly and there wasn't enough time for YMC. Still not a bad day though for a few hours after work on one of my first days back.

I was out at Ragged on Thursday, I actually onsighted Hemlock grove. I didn't feel really comfortable with the hole situation but pushed through anyway. I need to go back and do it a little more efficiently. I love leading broadway... haven't gotten up the courage to do YMC though I just TR'd it for the first time Thursday, fell off right before the flake to the left of the skull and bones block. awsome climb though.

So who wants to take the gimp out climbing? I'm up to try some easier stuff, preferable seconding... Thursdays and weekends are the best.
I'm down for Ragged or pinnacle, so give me a call or drop a PM...

Hi, I just registered on the site - see it hasn't been active for a while... but, I am looking for a climbing partner to go to The Cliffs at Valhalla after 6:30 weekdays and almost any time on weekends. I am a beginner climber, I have only been at it for about a year, and am not proficient in leading nor setting gear. However, I can belay and I am enthusiatic about improving.

I would also love to climb outside at the Gunks on any weekend day. However, I do not have any gear, nor can I set the gear I don't own. I can follow (up to 5.7) and clean gear. If you are interested, give me a holler @ sarah.garvan@gmail.com.

Climb on!

I live up in Litchfield, just moved back into the area. I have enough gear/ropes for rappelling and top-roping. I sold most of my sport rack to pay for college. I"m interested to go whenever/wherever. Most of my climbing around here has been recently at St. Johns ledge in Kent.

There are also some new areas I've noticed near that I'd like to check out with some people if they're up for it.

Yeah.. just about the only leading here is trad... and a trad rack is quite a bit more expensive than a "sport rack".

I'm always up for checking out new places. Toss me a pm with more info.

Also, if anyone wants to get out this weekend, i'm free in the mornings on sat and sunday.

So i've shot off PMs to the more visible CT regulars, and now i am posting here for a bit of double jeopardy. I'm looking for partners for CT trad thursdays through sundays, and maybe if i am lucky, someone to teach me to climb ice. I've got all the requisite trad gear, all i need is some partners.
Drop me a PM if you are interested.

Anybody gettin' out?
Oddly enough, this time of year I find myself in ski boots and trail runners more that sticky rubber

I saw Ken Nichols out at Owls Lair a few days ago, said the cliffs were bone dry.

That's because of the big plexiglass bubble. It's also heated now too, with marahwana smoke and bean salad farts. You can sorta smell it seeping out of the cracks.

Yeah, just not on any rock. I took the kayak out last week when it was a little warmer. The water was surprisingly a mild 40 degrees.
I need to get up north (VT) for a couple of days. I was talking with some friends up in Burlington and they haven't seen the ground since early Dec. Maybe I'll take the family up for some snow shoeing.

CT friends (and fiends),

Do not despair, ice is still in the Daks, although it did take a beating. Winter is coming back. If only the Catskills form up.

I am posting because we visit Connecticut every summer, and I love Ragged. Ragged is awesome. I'll be looking for partners when we come this summer. Anybody, anytime.

John Peterson was my partner way back when before moving to Colorado. Other partners have the mange, won't come back from Switzerland, or have gotten fat and slow. I need fresh blood!

This is not to disparage the Gunks, or N Conway. But it seems to me that Ragged is an under-appreciated gem.

hi i'm new to this thread (and this site).
i live in new milford, wondering if anyone on here is from nearby.

also wondering if anyone knows about judds bridge road in roxbury? clearly someone does, cuz i see fresh chalk around there from time to time, but i've never run into this person. who are you?????? also it's not mentioned anywhere online. there isn't much there, but since i live nearby it's a nice lil site.

also, anybody boulder up around lake candlewood? there are boulders all over the place, but since i'm new to bouldering (not new to climbing) i never really noticed them before (despite driving to school past them daily). from the road there doesn't necessarily look like much but i'm sure there's an untapped goldmine somewhere back in the woods up there. the one boulder i know for sure has a problem is at "the cove" or "dykes point" right on candlewood, on the upper trail out to the "cove." even the cove itself has some fun stuff if you like DWS on slabs. its a fun place to jump off rocks in the summer, and climb the cliffs barefoot. just thought i'd pass that on. pm me for directions if you're interested. sry if this turned into a short essay haha
