I'm going to San Diego for a conference in the start of November, and I'm thinking of spending 3-4 days rock climbing (sport) afterwards if there are any places within 7 or so hours of driving.
Where would be the best place to go sport climbing with good routes around 5.11 to 5.12 near San Diego in November??

El Cajon Mt is your best bet! Lots of bolted routes up to 3-5 pitches in length and its right in San Diego (though it has a 1 hr approach).
Otherwise you could head over to riverside quarry for some happy time gym-style climbing, where the bolts are really close together and the moves are pretty accrobatic. Its only 1.5 hours from San Diego.

Since you said that you would be willing to drive, I would suggest either The Riverside Quarry (about 1 1/2 hours from San Diego with a 5-10 minute hiking approach) or the Owens River Gorge (about 5 hours from San Diego with a 20-30 minute hiking approach).
Both of these areas off good length (50-100+ feet) routes, friendly locals and the chance to get a lot of climbing (each area has over 200 routes in the 5.11-5.12 range) in each day.
Maybe a couple of days at each place?

In addition to the Quarry and Owens, there's also New Jack up by Barstow. I'd guess about 2.5 hours from SD. Shorter routes than those two places for the most part.

There is plenty of good sport in San Diego county, including but not limited to the previously mentioned El Cajon Mtn. However, I think a number of the good local places were in the fire zones of this week, and thus might be closed for quite some time and might very well need a lot of the bolts inspected. In any other November, I'd tell you to stay right here in SD county, but if you are going to be here in the next few weeks I'd look at New Jack, Riverside Quarry, and the unburned parts of LA county (Malibu Creek, etc.). New Jack is closer to 3.5 than 2.5 hours away though. Good luck- Greg

And I'd say New Jack City is 3-3.5 hrs and Owens River Gorge is 6-7 hrs.
Also, keep in mind that it can be cold and even snow in the hi-desert areas in November.
