Hard climbing, in good style. I like it!

Good work Alex.

He did indeed strike again. Apparently I don't spend enough time on the front page because I didn't see until just now that he 4th classed the RNWF of Half Dome the other day. Pick any handful of superlatives to describe the climb and it won't enough, so I won't comment other than to say that it was a damn proud send.

Anyway, I followed the link to the Alpinist website and found his play list from the Moonlight Buttress solo. I found it to be rather interesting. Here it is -

New Dark Ages Bad Religion

Humanoid - Chevelle

Fuck Authority - Pennywise

Can't Repeat - Offspring

Something Wrong With Me - Pennywise

Who's On Your Side - Pennywise

Plug In Baby - Muse

Sky Is Over Serj - Tankian

I Get It - Chevelle

Read My Mind - The Killers

New Born - Muse

The Fad - Chevelle

Happy? - Mudvayne

Forget To Remember - Mudvayne

Tarantula - Smashing Pumpkins

Falling Down - Atreyu

A Single Second - AFI

Empty Walls - Serj Tankian

ATWA - System Of A Down

He Who Laughs Last - AFI

Chop Suey - System Of A Down

Prayer Of The Refuge - Rise Against

The Good Left Undone - Rise Against

Fall Children - AFI

Pushing Me Away - Linkin Park

My question is, could any of you solo to that list? I couldn't, its no death metal to be certain but its way to hard for the occasion, if it were me. Obviously the man can and should listen to anything he damn well pleases, I'm not saying he couldn't/shouldn't. I'm just curious how that play list strikes others, not in terms of bands/songs you do or don't like but with regard to the tone/mood of it.

I can't tolerate music when I'm scared for my life and under the anxiety of a ropeless climb.

DMT can't solo to music. Hahaha! Face it dood, we're old.

Can't/won't solo to music; won't solo on command for video; won't rap three pitches into a death climb and then step out of the slings and solo out for the cameras; can't/won't build a posse/website/management team to document each ascent and devote 24/7 to beating down all the whining skeptics; can't/won't line up in the gym to get a shot at the green route.

Good for Alex. Fuckin glad I don't have to swim in the new ocean.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking stuff like that would lead to or enhance the twitchiness. I don't need/want to be amped up when I don't have the cord on.

Not that I know anything about soloing 23 pitch 5.12's but I like music if the volume is down low (as in I can easily converse with some one low) and aslong as I'm not needing to test holds **tap, tap, tap** too often.

He's probably so damn solid that a helicopter hovering overhead wouldn't throw him of his game. One could argue that if the music is enough to make a difference, you/me/he shouldn't be up there in the first place.
