I've seen pictures included as attachments with messages in threads so i would guess you could attach a pdf as well. I just moved to syracuse a few months ago and have done some climbing at moss island and am really interested in getting ahold of a guide. If you can't get it to attach as a pdf i'd really appreciate it if you could pm it to me.

Cool, I live a half hour away from Moss and am there frequently when I don't have time to head north. I have the old guide but would be interested in seeing your update.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together! The nude photos are fine. One suggestion, I think you should have the lines traced in the color photographs..that would make it much easier to find the climbs. On another note, I think Moss Island is the worst crag in Little Falls. Very few lines are safe to lead, the crag is too short and it's crowded. You stated in the guide that the better crags such as Wind Wall and the Dihedrals are illegal to climb at. Who owns these properties? I've always heard there's an access issue, but I've never had a problem nor heard of anybody having a problem. The railroad personal I've encountered are super friendly.

Thanks for the reworked guide. I wish too I knew the actual details of access for the other crags. I've heard CSX workers will kick you out at the dihedrals but never had a problem. I have talked to people that have been kicked out of the Wind Wall by police but have never had anyone say anything. The other small crags are in the bushes and poison ivy and nobody would ever know you are there. I know the Crucifix is private property and permission should be sought from the landowner. Who owns everything on the N. side - the city, the railroad, private landowners, a mix of the three???

Its nice that you did this work, but is it really a new guide? All you really did is copy all the old routes and descriptions, then add a couple pictures. You could have at least changed the descriptions of where it said the routes are. The old ones go by graffiti that is no longer visible. Also, climbing at the dihedrals is NOT illegal. The dihedrals is privately owned by a fellow who doesnt mind us climbing there. The only issue is getting to them, CSX can stop you from crossing the tracks and thats about it. Once you are against the wall you are no longer on thier property or the city's for that matter. Believe me a lot of people will appreciate the new guide, but it would really be new if you updated it. BTW, did you get permission from the old Author to use all his information.

I saw and used an unedited new guide of Moss Island this summer (rough copy) but not too rough. Two local guys had copies of it and from what I understand it should be going to print late summer of 2008. Out with old and in with the new!!! Hope this helps.

EDIT: Just realized he provided a link to where to download the guide. Scroll up a bit and read his post, copy and paste the link and you will find the guide available at the bottom of that page. I think I have a copy on my laptop somewhere, if I dont I know my partner does so I will send him an email and see if he can send it to me. I will post again when I locate it. ADK - Theres a chance it might have been me who let you look at the guidebook. My partner and I always offerr it up to everyone while we are there so they can check it out.

Tuwie wrote: BTW, did you get permission from the old Author to use all his information. The original author, Geoffery has given permission to anyone to "go for it" He would like to be mentioned though. He's not looking for money. The other situation that arrives is that he has given permission to reprint the "old" book thus taking the original publisher out of the question.---not looking for money. ..a new book is coming.

There is an updated copy of the Moss Island guide on my web site, thomannengineering.com, www not needed. Doug Morse gave me some additional routes and I put them in. Also, removed graffiti from drawings where it has been removed from cliff. This is a G rated version, all models fully clothed.
