I started to climb last year on Ice.I have climbing for 16 Years on rock!Now it is time to try same ice.Could someone to tell me some triks? I want to know all about Ice climbing!I have equipment for that now!

Practice is the best trick... Practice with a top-rope is the safest trick...

I have not climbed ice myself. I have never even had a tool in my hand nor wore a pair of crampons. I am moving to Colorado in Oct I plan on finding some one who actually knows how to climb ice. Good luck, hope you are able to get on some Ice routes soon.

that is just what i was thinking today! I wanna start ice climbing! I have been climbing for a year but i want to try it while i am young, i just have to find a course to do it: ( oh well. I am sure i will becuase ice climbikng season is comong up! if you find one please let me know!

climber_girl: Being as you are located in Alberta Canada it shouldn't be to hard for you to find some ice to climb. I'm pretty sure NOLS U. doesn't offer anything. I beleive that ice climbing is taught in beggining and advanced mountaineering courses at NOLS. Very pricey though. Here are some courses that are on the net:

Hey climber_girl, check out Yamnuska mountaineering. They are based in Canmore. When I was up at the clubhouse in canmore last year they had some classes going on. I don't know anyone who has taken a class from them so I can't tell you much about them. but check out there website www.yamnuska.com

Some people I know say it's stupid and lame. Because you make your own hand holds and foot holds. Well, I think its kinda crazy. Jest a few things and they are its very cold, big ice could kill you, stuff cut your rope, frozen fingers, and water in the eyes. I give props to ice monkeys.
