hi i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about leaving holds outside? specifically, leaving screw on holds outside, screwed on to the exterior of a house, for long durrations in the sun, rain, ect... is rusting a big problem? i will inevitably change their position at least every 4 days or so. i was just wondering if it is ok to leave them completely exposed, or if i should cover them with a tarp or something. also: anyone know where i can get screw-on jugs? can a normal drill drill thru bold-ons to make holes for screw-ons? what is the best way to convert bolt-ons to screw-ons? thanks a lot mike edit: i just talked with my step-dad and he said he won't let me put screw-ons up on the ALREADY EXPOSED roof beams of the garage. they can be removed at any whim, require no construction, are cheap and easy to use... can anyone come up with A SINGLE REASON why the would not be permisible in a house? because evidently he can't. Micheal, I have had my holds up outside for the better part of three years, I just turn the jugs over so they don't fill up with rain. I don't know how much colder N.J. is than here, but I have heard freezing isn't good for them. Mine have been frozen and none have shown any signs of damage. Someone makes huge screw-ons some bigger than your head but I cannot remember who (one as big as your head looks like a big brain, if that helps). Ahh parental problems they never end... His house... his rules?!? Best of luck with the weather, Jeff

I've had some up on the backside of my house since January and have had no problems yet. Pending getting a drill and some god screws, I'll soon be able to traverse all the way around my entire house. I can do a little over 3/4 right now, and could do the rest, but I'm afraid of damaging shingles, so I want to use 2x4s screwed to the unseen sides of the rafters in the eaves. As long as the holds can't be seen, my parents are ok with them.

i have had my holds out side on my tree house, for about 2 years now, and the holds are still fine, a couple of the screws show signs of a little bit of rust. but nothing that worries me.

On similiar note: I was wondering how I could find some foam (not crash pads) for the floor of my boulder room. I'm talking about backpack foam, that sort of stuff
