Hello! I have a friend that will offer me her place while I climb down in AZ, and I'm wondering if I am staying in Tempe, where should I go for climbing? I am looking for moderate sport/trad stuff, with some bouldering as well (preferably not all boulder though). Multipitch would be fabulous. I have looked around ValleyMetro.org, but it's kind of confusing when I have to compare that with a bunch of different climbing areas. I'd like to take the bus or some other mass transit to get there, thanks!! edit: Queen Creek Canyon looks very interesting, is there mass transit to there from Tempe?

mass transit in the valley is less than ideal. The only crags I know of for bouldering in tempe is Pima Canyon at south mountain; in phx you will find climbs and bouldering. I think you can get public transport to 48th street/baseline in Phx and access Pima Canyon by walking a mile to the south along 48th street. Good luck.

Or could you take mass transit to Camelback Mountain, but that place sucks!!! I avoid climbing there as the rock is excessively rotten for the most part. Phoenix (considering its size) is a joke for mass transit; sorry, man.
