Hello: I'll be hosting an adventure race next spring that will include: running/obstacle course gym climbing cycling (both road and single track) canoing running it will be in two person teams My problem is deciding how to score the climbing portion of the race. I have two Ideas, both involving a typical red point format, but instead of the climber's top 3 or 5, it would be cumulative, thus rewarding a wider variety of climbers (instead of purely power, favored in a typical RP comp.): idea 1 climb for a set period of time, like 90 minutes, then translate the points to a time value and subtract that from the final time: for example, 100 points equals 1 minute so 1200 points cuts 12 minutes off of the final time. I expect average race times to be about 5 hours. idea 2 climb until a set number of points is reached. This would be nice because there would be no scoring surprises. Who ever crosses the finish line first wins. The problem though is how to score? If your a 5.12 climber you might be out of there in 30 minutes. idea 3 climb a certain number of routes: 20 top rope routes at or around 5.9... boring. So, a tricky problem. Any ideas?!?! Thanks in advanced, Jerimiah So, a

i like the second way, to score a certain number of points, just create different style problems, everyone has their own style, make some that will appeal to all
