i'm currently climbing around 11c to 12a and am making up a real good training to get into the 12c's and beyond. I do a lot of bouldering and went from v4 to about v6 wihin this year. I do 4X4's and long traverses (10min+) to get some good resistance. I'm at the moment doing hard boulders at the beginning of a session and then endurance as i get tired from the hard stuff. I'm asking myself if it would be better to separate hypertrophy and endurance training. (tuesday, thursday) or if training cycles will boost my climbing level. 6 weeks hypertrophy and then 6 weeks enurance. It this necessary at this level? Does anybody got good results with trainign cycles? Thanks for reading this long post.

Living in Swizerland, you probably have enough access to rock that training is not too essential. Boldering V6 definately means you should be able to do the moves on 12c relatively easily. If you want to concentrate on routes, tailor your training sessions to match. 4x4's are a great way to build power endurance. Doing hard bolder problems back to back that are seperated by a jug is another great training technique. Learning how to shake out and recover is probably the most important skill you need to learn to be able to push your redpoint limit... RJ
