Still working on that, but I think it's sandstone.

The bouldering is a little like Boone but more edges. Top-outs are slopey. The cliff, however, looks like sandstone. I figure there aren't two different kinds of rock in that area so I really don't know--something in the realm of sandstone/quartzite. There are a lot of potential boulders, especially past the main wall, that I have yet to explore.

It is Sandstone. I've been tooling around ball for 2 years now,the boulders are cool. if you look directly left of the main boulders there is another 50 foot rock face that is better for playing with your trad gear or a little top rope action this part was not blasted by the railroad is is still intact the main face is a slab of shit.i've half climbed the left side near the steps and a 10 foot chunk of rock broke off. this place is pretty remote and a great place to learn to set gear and rappel or get high with the stoners.

There are a shit loads of boulders up there. the "jesus" boulders are worth a trip alone.there are different boulders throughout the whole area.some of them are scattered up the side of the main face.this area is still pretty unexplored so there are lots of little problems all around. i make a trip from charlotte 58 miles and find it a good day trip. there is a lot of choss around the area but thats the fun part.

I am currently only bouldering on about 5 routes around Jesus boulder but they are better than any other boulders in the area (Uwharries and other local spots). The boulders are solid--although a little dirty--and focus on technique, balance and footwork. Not much overhanging, but where there is, watch out for loose rock. Stop by if you ever pass by on I-85 or 220 rather than making a special trip.
