Dave--

I'm about 45 min south of you in Monterey. I'll climb locally during the week (the gym, maybe?) and drive just about anywhere on the weekends. I'm still learning, but I'll try anything. PM/email me if you're interested.

Dave,

Welcome, there is so much to climb in California! For a good bay area guide get Bay Area rock, good book lots of crags. The San Francisco and Bay area Falcon guide is also good. One last book, Climbers guide to Skyline Blvd. I think there is a gym in Santa Cruz. I live in San Francisco but come south to climb most weekends, drop me a line and we'll go climb.

Hey Dave,

Had the pleasure of meeting a few travelling kiwis on a recent trip to France. If you are as cool as Sticky, Krispy, and John(of Powerband fame) were, than I would be happy to give you a tour of the SoCal climbing scene. Let me know if and when you are headed south. (Bishop included)

You are in a great place for climbing! Check out Castle Rock State Park which is just minutes from Santa Cruz. Here is one photo of the place...absolutely gorgeous with all kinds of climbing.
