What's the camping situation in the West Cochise Stronghold? Are there designated sites/fees? Water/latrines? And for that matter how about the east side? Is it just that campground at the end of the road in the east stronghold or is there anything else available? Thanks.

Camping is free at the West side towards the sheepshead (no toilets/water from what I recall) and other domes at the end of the line. East has pay camping (water/toilets) at the end of the road and free camping scattered around just before the bend. Poke around and you'll find some. Hope this helps.

Never spent any time in East Stronghold, but West has some great campsites (designated), but definitely no water or toilets. There wasn't a ton of traffic around there from what I remember either.

The only designated campground (paved access, water, toilet, RVs) is on the east side. The west is open to primitive camping. Look for your route and you will be sure to find an open patch of dirt under a tree. Sheepshead camping is good and open with plenty of room. Isle of You has great spots under the trees. In the west stronghold, all the way north up the main access road you'll come to a right turn dead ending at trails access. Lovely with big trees but cold this time of year in the morning. If you wanna stay free on the east, turn right when the main entry turns left. This is a primitive road, kinda rough so be cautious. Find a tree with an open spot.
