There are some places south near the rio grande. In Pilar. Even more south, about 1.5 hours, there is more in the santa fe/pecos area. There are some other places that have sport climbs near Taos also. I don't think there are a lot of bouldering spots. I just got a job at the ski hill. They got dumped on in the last week. Almost 5 feet! Welcome to the land of Entrapment!

Yes there is, most of it is under snow right now unfortunately. Pillar has a little bit of bouldering, and most of it is just ok. Tres Piedras has ALOT of bouldering, and it ranges from ok to 4-5 Star. Questa Dome has alot of bouldering ranges from yuk to omfg that is sweet. Also there is about 3-4 more spots that are ok with a few really good lines. The only spot to boulder or climb right now(winter) is Pillar, the rest of the climbing and bouldering is snowed out. If you have any questions PM me or when you get to Taos swing by Mudd N Flood, I'm there Thur, Fri, Sat, and Sun. We wlll also have a really nice Woodie in about 1-2 months also. The powder is sweet right now, see you soon.

Something is happening somewhere close by...http://www.climbing.com/...retnm07/index29.html Also look at Jay Foley's Book, Taos Rock by Sharp End. I hear the rock at Sierra Azul is excellent. Cow Pattie Beach can be bouldered in the Winter as well. Good luck.

gentlemen - i'm wondering if anyone is interested in showing a NC transplant around your area. i now live in CO (and understand i am now a "greeny"). anyway, i was fortunate to have developed bouldering areas in boone (howard's knob, blowing rock boulders, lost cove, hound ears, grandmother, etc.). in other words, i bouldered in boone when you could count the other players on two hands, watched the expanding popularity and to a certain extent feel sorry that the spirit of exploration has been lost in that area. i could have just said that i'm low key and don't plan on bringing anyone with me. further name dropping...my friend Jean Delataillade told me "everyone was cool in NM unlike those CO idiots." drop me a message or i'll see you around. ashley overton (sorry i'm a dude) aoverton.boulder@gmail.com
