Info on Auburn SRA has not been updated in quite a while. Years ago the access issue was contentious. I know the area remains officially verboten, but what are the cuurent chances of getting my gear confiscated if i visit? -st

I doubt your gear will be confiscated. You may possibly still be fined. There were a few meetings earlier this year to revise the recreation use plan for the area. They all went pretty well, and it doesn't seem like there will be any opposition to having climbing recognized as a legitimate use when the new plan is adopted. I believe the plan is scheduled to be adopted late 08 or early 09. However, keep in mind that sometimes the wheels of govt turn slowly, and can get held up. But, it'd be nice to have legal climbing access back at Auburn, it's a great place.

The Rangers out there are DICKS. They keep an eye on that area from across the river and via helicopter. I've seen them do it while I was out there biking. Look forward to getting your gear jacked because they don't have a good tolerance towards law breakers out thurr.
