Has anyone else seen those cliffbands North of 58, a few miles to the east of Tehachapi? I think the exit is "Sand Canyon", and it could have been the lack of sleep but it looked a little like limestone! Does anyone know anything about climbing in this area?

Nothing climbable there. Try the Kern Canyon. You might check out Bald Eagle Rock close to Bodfish if you're looking for potential new routes.

I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari; Tehahachapi to Tononapah. I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made, driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed. If you give me weed, whites and wine: and if you show me a sign, Ill be willin.

thanks. So I take it you've gotten a closer look at that cliff band? What type of rock did it look like?

No, I've just been thru that area a lot and never saw anything worthwhile. I'd be surprised if I'm wrong, but go take a look.

There actually is some decent climbing in tehachapi. Up in mountain park. There is 2 or 3 routes bolted for top rope. It is the first place i climbed besides the gym. You take Water Canyon road of of Highline on the south side of tehachapi and drive until the road ends and the last campground. Then walk west around the gate and through the church camp. Right past that you will come around to the rock. it has super easy access to the top for setting up and a nice trail down to the bottom. It's probably about 60 ft but there are a ton of possibilities for climbing if you don't mind a little swing if you fall
