I haven't heard of one. Learning to rig a highline is usually best learned hands-on with an experienced rigger.

Highlines may look simple to build but they are consider as one of the most dangerous in rope rigging. If you have to build a short distance highline then that should be so hard as long as your anchors are solid. If you need to build a highline to cover a wide distance then you need to some basic math and physic calculation to figure out where things may end up.

I think the closest advice to what you are seeking is something I put togther on my site. Highline Rigging is flat out dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. More so than any other common recreational rigging that I can think of due to the physics and inherent dangers involved.

Learning from a book, video or webpage simply will not cut it. You need hands on field experience with someone who knows what they are doing. My best suggestion, post up trying to find highliners in your area or travel to highline events to see if you can learn the ropes. I know the Ouray ice festival next week is having a highline there but I don't know if the riggers there want to mentor for you.

...

Larry, what do you think? You willing to be hired out as a rigging guide if people make it to Moab with cash in hand? You certainly have the location for it.

For the life of me I still don't want to step in the teaching shoes yet, I've rigged 3 locations to date (all on new bolts or big trees) so I don't feel qualified and I still haven't got new locations setup since my last move.

Hank Williams Jr. said it best. "If you got the money, honey. I got the time"

Except for the "honey" part.

Good point this isn't the kinda teach yourself activity. I think I'll hang out at the rostrum and watch the riggers.Cool
