Does anyone have any information on the development going on at Rumbling Bald? There has been an increasing amount of "For Sale" signs, construction, land clearing, etc. in the area and it makes me a little nervous.
Recently when I was there someone working for a real estate agency had parked their truck in the middle of the trail by the lower parking lot and was riding an off-road gator-type vehicle up the trail to the boulder field/flakeview area.
Is access going to become an issue again? Who currently owns the face and the trails to it?

There is indeed a small development going on below the south face of Rumbling Bald. Don't worry about it. The vast majority of the cliffs are destined to be included in the new state park. The developer is even talking with the state about transferring some of the boulders he owns to the state.
