This is my buddy climbing the rail. Looking for constructive criticism. I'm fairly new at this so please explain well.

Lighting is nice but it needs a good crop.

Id loose the tree at the top for starters as to make the climber your only focal point.

Tighter crop with the climber on the left side, convert to B/W with some added contrast. I love the blue sky, but it doesn't work for me with this framing, maybe if he was higher up, and you could show more then just a little bit of it.

I think that looks way better. You can work with the B/W conversion to make it better maybe. I did a quick conversion in CS 3 using gradient map, with a very slight red tint. I can send it to you if you want.

Black and white is a very subtle thing to work with, and there are many tools out there to play with, each giving a little bit different end product.
