I spent my first year teaching at Barstow High School in 2000. In some ways NJC saved my life. I don't know how else I could have coped with life in Barstow for a year without it--choss or not. I hadn't thought about the place in years and was surprised to see so many people slagging it. I guess a little perspective goes a long ways. Move out to Barstow for a year and those little brown turds in the desert will take on a whole new beauty--not to mention the burgers at the Slash X. Cheers Jack for all the hard work over the years!

We and everyone to follow are indebted to Jack Marshall and the others for the lifetime of climbing they've put up. Maybe we'll be able to revisit a lot of it when the USFS reopens WR.

Heh, these people keep praising him, but I happen to have a friend who knows first-hand that washed-up never was has become a perma-blorted bitch who's only remaining joy in life is giving BJ's at the seedier Barstow truck stops. The only thing he's climbed up lately is a trouser leg. Weke.

What a bunch of jerks! This guy goes out and takes his time and money to set these routes for you guys to come along and struggle on, and what does he get in return: A bunch of internet pussies that come along talk shit about him.

Exactly! I know Jack. I had this problem with this crux move on this 10c up in the Gunks. This guy flew out, flashed the crux for me, then he let me buy him a beer. And he helped me with some marital problems while he was out here! The guy is a saint. This is just another example of anonymous internet posters talking out of their asses. I bet these limp-dicks couldn't climb a set of stairs. I heard Jack had some hip problems and I heard something about his cataracts but I bet he could still send harder than all of them. Fuckin assholes.
