Any ideas were this exposed rock is in Alexandria?

Found it NW of Alex, for those that are interested, the rocks are only six to eight feet (from what we've found), but thats good enough for bouldering. So far as I know this is the only place to climb on real rocks in the state...we are always looking for more so if anyone has any other locations, pplease post or email.

I believe it's the exposed face of a boulder in Kistachie National Forest. I've seen a picture on it somewhere on the Forest service, or national park service's website. It's just to the side of a trail that goes to a gazebo I think. I haven't been there yet (who's got gas money for such a random short trip when Mardi Gras break is approaching, and bigger better stuff is calling?) However, I do plan on checking it out before I leave this state for good.

Where are you other Louisiana climbers from?

Looks like the entire Kisatchie Hills Wilderness may be a good possibility

"featuring some of the most unusually steep and rugged terrain to be found in Louisiana. In addition to a variety of wildlife, this scenic area features flat-topped mesas, sandstone bluffs and outcroppings, and several distinct forest types."

None that I know of. I would check more into Mississippi like that cause Louisiana is very sparse.

OK all, more info on the rock. Its at Longleaf Vista on the Longleaf Vista Trail. The best rock for climbing is about 12 feet. It looks like they had done some quarrying in the area and there are two plateaus of rock, hopefully more can be found down in the bottom of the quarry but right now all that area is overgrown. The best directions are take the 119 exit off of 49 or if coming from the south take LA 8 to 119. Longleaf Vista trail is new Gorum, LA. If you need the Lat Longs let me know and I will try and pull them off my Nav System. We are just hoping we can more people up there to get the interest in it and hopefully we can uncover more rock there. If you go let us know on this thread.
