We will be in Thailand and SE Asia and looking for good routes for a new climber. Is the Railay area good for a 5.7 - 5.9 climber? We are looking for something on the beach and easy access. Also looking to rent a boat and climb the pillars and sea cliffs where you can boulder and just fall in the water.

There are a couple crags on Railay with several routes that level, 1-2-3 wall and Diamond Cave.
Those are also really popular with the guide services, so they are often crowded. It might be worth it to hire a guide for a day or two.
It is easy to sign up for Wee's deep water solo trip too, lots of easy DWS out there.
Lots of easy and moderate routes on Koh Phi Phi as well.
