Please don't say Yosemite - I know, ok? sorry to the faithful but the crowds and camping kinda blow, and honestly summer is not prime season. I can leave starting mid May to mid August though unfortunately not the entire time (summer school). Trying to plan before I register for classes. I was thinking areas more along the lines of sport climbing with some bouldering too...

Cool, thanks if you have any good beta.

When the heat blows

Head to the coast: Mickey's Beach, Salt Point, Fort Ross, etc

Head east: to Tuolumne or any other place that's nice and high.

I live in Placeville and spent most of my adult life in Bouler. I miss Boulder, but this area is great tool Bucks bar after work. The Phantoms and Lovers are close. Hammer dome in the summer and the big one across the stream. Take a fire road and find your own bouldering area.

What difficulty range are you looking for?

Also consider the Western Sierra. Areas like Shuteye Ridge have a ton of good sport climbing and bouldering. There are dozens of individual areas in Shuteye, with dozens more within a short drive.

The Bishop area of course is worthy.

Maybe also some of the areas down in Sequoia, although you will find less concentrations of sport climbing there as a rule.
