Unfortunately, I work a lot of hours. If I had the time off I'd climb more, but I'm usually looking for partners on here on the few measely days I have off on short notice.

Howdy,
I live in Tucson. I am looking for partners for Wednesday-Friday every week. I like sport, trad, frontcountry or backcountry, and even bouldering. I am most comfortable on 9 to easy 11 and would love to get on harder stuff as well. For the most part I just want to get out and climb. Let me know.
thanks,
mike

I'll be in PHX 12/15-12/20 and looking to do some climbing, any climbing, it's all good.

Any bouldering areas you can recommend?

Anyone need a trad/sport partner for a day?

I'm probably leading in the 8's or so these days. Safe climber, Wilderness EMT, buys beer.

Tony.

Sedona: Christmas to New Years [In reply to]

Hey, I'll be visiting Sedona beginning the day after christmas and staying through new years, give or take a day or two. I've visited Sedona a dozen times but haven't climbed there enough. I'd prefer to follow someone on the local spires but want to climb sport too. I can lead sport to 10c/d, follow 11a.

I'm really easy going and seem to get along with just about anyone and I'll buy the beer.

Looking for anyone who likes to sport climb a lot around AZ. I go to Phoenix rock gym about 3 times a week and am forced to boulder since none of my friends share my passion for climbing rocks. I would like to get some trips out to queen creek or wherever really. If you climb regularly and are looking for a partner shoot me an e-mail.

Friend of mine coming into town, so we're heading to Mt. Lemmon on Sunday, will be there through Tuesday afternoon/evening. Probably camping at Prison Camp (mile marker 7, if memory serves.) Black Dodge Intrepid, license tags 59R WI5) and a yellow North Face Mountain 25 tent. I'm tall, thin, and will have my dog with me (black and tan, looks like a small German Shepherd.)

Bring beer and firewood.

Where do Phoenixians climb in May?

Looks like I'll be in Phoenix on a business trip the 2nd week of May, and would like to tack on some vacation time to climb if possible. I've been to Phoenix in March, and that was plenty hot, so I'm guessing May is brutal (especially to a New Yorker in the spring). Anywhere within a day's drive or less to climb some moderate stuff?

Actually, there are quite a few options. Flagstaff has a good section of variety: Limestone pocket pulling and bolt clipping at Le Petit Verdon (a.k.a. "The Pit.) Oak Creek Overlook has single pitch basalt trad routes with very easy access. Both are ~ 2 hours from PHX, depending on where you are staying -- Phoenix is a huge metro area, slightly larger than Connecticut, at 9000 square miles.

Paradise Forks would be a LONG day (wee bit of dirt road driving to get there, about 3 hours from PHX) but is some remarkable splitter crack stuff, though it can be somewhat stiff in the grades.

Isolation Canyon has a nice blend of sport and gear routes, fairly easy access, and I feel the grades are spot-on accurate. About 2 hours.

If you're looking for something closer, you can find tolerable climbs in the McDowell Mountains: Gardner's Wall faces north, and if you get out early and down by 2pm, it's not unbearable. I've heard that the Jacuzzi Spires are similar, but I've not been there so can't confirm.

Tucson is another option, but again a bit longer of a drive (2 hours on the interstate, another hour through town and up Mt. Lemmon.) Year round climbing, though... if it's hot, just keep driving up the hill to elevation. It'll cool off sooner or later.

Holler via PM if you want more info. I'll also be happy to show you around a bit, provided 1) I still live in PHX in May, and 2) I'm not working the day you want to climb. I've got rope and rack, the inside track on the best green chile cheeseburgers around, and I don't bite.

Headed to AZ and can climb from 5/2-5/7. Weather depending, I'll head to Flag/Prescott/Sedona area or south to Tucson area. Plan to have rental SUV. Will plan to camp out for most of the time. I hooked up my regular partner to go, but he's gotten really flaky all of a sudden within the past two months. I'm 90% confident he'll bail. If anyone (with some outdoor experience) is interested, PM me. Trad lead 5.8. Follow trad 5.10. Not worried about numbers, though. I just want to climb and enjoy being outside in the vertical realm for a couple of days (I'm from Kansas, you see). Full rack.

Anybody interested in climbing sometime in the dates listed here? I'm a safe climber, looking for anything from short sport to longer trad. I'm open for most Arizona areas - if it's far I'll drive up the night before. As one can see, I'm pretty flexible here, and I climb in the 5.10 to 11- range, depending on the rock. PM if interested.

When you are up in the flag area, drop me a line if you want (5-7th is the best since I am travelling for business before then ). I know most of the routes at Paradise Forks (since I've led them), know a bit around other places (like the Pit) but am alsways looking to get out climbing.

Hey all, I'm in Prescott for two weeks starting next sunday (the 11th). I've been in law school, so WAAAAAY out of shape and practice, but I'd love to hit some of the rock to get back into it, especially around the Prescott and surroundings areas. I sport around 5.10 or so, and I'm willing to try something harder and definitely something easier - anything to get me back on the wall for a day or so. If any takers...... hit me up.
