I will be in Phuket for a few days and wondering if there is any climbing that can be reached as a day trip? Can you get to Railay and climb for the day from Phuket?

Thanks

you can take the ferry from phuket to phi phi where there is some climbing. YOu can take the ferry or fly from phuket to railay. It would be hard to do in a day, as the trip takes a couple hours, and the ferry only leaves a couple times a day.

You're better off going for a couple days to make it worth it.

There might be some rock closer I don't know about.

You could also hire a speedboat for the day instead of the ferry, but it will cost a lot more.

Also, phuket isn't really that nice. Phi phi is way nicer.

I'll be in phuket on the 23rd March, looking for some crags as well! But trying to google for it has been a bum, found nothing but agencies.

Do post something up if you find anything

Find a car and driver, get up early and go for the day. If you leave early, you can get plenty of climbing in, then return that night. Hiring a local car and driver is cheap.

If you can leave the evening before, that's evening better.

Hey I'm actually moving to Phuket in the fall and planning on being based out of there. Is there anywhere on the island to get in some basic sport climbing workouts or at least some bouldering problems?
