That's some funny shit right there.

What's so funny the fact the I boulder or that I was nearly killed by some fools that should have taken their drinking to some frickin bar? I've already said that I don't JUST boulder.

Even funnier you don't get it.

Hehehehe!

That is comedy.

I reallly really hate it when i'm like out with someone else and using their rope and it doesn't match my shoes.

I mean, there's just no point in doing anything if you don't look good doing it.

Getting seriously injured. That sucks.

Getting mildy injured.

Getting trapped.

Everything else is just little boy wah wah wah where's my binkie bullshit, but I've got plenty of those too.

I think ending up a paraplegic would be at the top of the list. And then dying. Before my open heart surgery a decade ago, the surgeon said the worst side effect possible is a stroke, and the second worst would be death. I agreed with him and said that if the first occurred could he arrange for the second. He said, "No."

When someone in a gym is talking to you like they know more than you about climbing (just general stuff ), and they are gym rats that have never seen or felt outside rock.

That really pisses me off but i just give'em a funny look and nod my head. Laugh

My biggest pet peave is the solitude on alpine climbs. I get so lonely out there. Does the quiet bug anyone else?

Depends on where you are and how many headlamps you have ;) Try staying calm at Moonarie on a big sand-bagged (or normal Moon route) when there's 3 of you, two headlamps and not one for the leader because you won't be able to send it back down to the climbers who are really going to need it.

The thing that has annoyed me most was on my last trip to Araps; There were these folks somewhere in a gully who had music playing from speakers at the base of the route they were doing in a group of 5.

At Arapiles! Come on! It's not the friggin' gym, it's a bloody multipitch trad-climbing haven!

It's more epic if you never put the lamp on, because you forgot it, or it's dead.

Pet peeves?

Not too many when it comes to climbing.

This corson fellow talking about whining spray could become a pet peeve, I guess. Nah, too much effort.

Now, if we started talking about work, I could mention some peeves....

When the nut tool catches the leg loop mid crux move.

Being the little spoon.

Hauling the #5 up based on somebody's beta, just to find out there's a bomber #2 placement in the back of the crack.

Liebacks.

Well other people is probably my #1. I don't climb for social reasons, I climb for myself. So when other people are around it just damages the experience that I am looking for (just me and my partner in the wilderness)

#2 In the event that I can't get away from the crowds I hate people who spray beta at you. "The crux is where the crack moves right, bring a #5 stopper or your screwed!" When that happens I'm just thinking thanks for taking the adventure away. So then I go to my rack and take the #5 stopper off so it's not even an option.

Who knows maybe I'm just antisocial!
Yet you hang out here?

Yea seriously what's with those people? Everyone knows that climbing is just about getting sponsored so you can make the big money. Everyone else is just wasting their time.

clipping your chalkbag to your haul loop with a carabiner

I always do that. Often I climb things that are not in the guidebook, and run pitches together. Several times, I have been glad to have that biner, so I could finish building a solid anchor.

On long routes, it makes sense. maybe on short sporties, it doesn't.

Also good; a 3 foot piece of webbing for your chalk bag belt, really handy.

I'm going to agree with what a lot of others have said.
I can't fucking stand people yelling out BETA while I'm on a climb...when it's not asked of them.
I truly understand that on the most part the people that do it are just trying to be genuinely helpful, so I never have a go at them, but sometimes you get those fucking tossers (always seam to be gym rats) that do it purely to spray. Typically they're also the topless belayers ;)

Ahwell, I try not to let it stop me from having fun.

It's about "getting shit done," right?

My pet peeves:

Taping up and then finding out I didn't need to

Not taping up and then finding out I shoulda

The fact that they make the inseam on 95% of women's outdoor shorts and zip-offs too short to be comfortable under a harness (why can't we have long shorts like the guys for crying out loud)

The fact they make 95% of women's "climbing" pants from material designed for a yoga class

Dealing with aging hardware that most people around here are too ignorant to see the problem with. Very frustrating.
