I met up with Einstein and abbadab at Jtree and we did some climbing. abbadab did one route and was done for the day but Einstein was a pretty seasoned climber and we got some routes under our belts. I really enjoyed the trip. It gave me a chance to get comfortable with my trad gear and really learn to trust it. Jtree is way different than any other place I've ever been! I'm use to bolts at the top of every climb. Not so use to rapping off webbing and rap rings. It was a great trip! I'm sore and I'm missing the skin off of a couple of my nuckles! Pictures to come!

lol...did you mention that i also climbed the day before ANNND had to leave early saturday?? i will admit, i got tired soo much faster than i expected. i'm a pretty active gal, and work out alot, but those JTREE rocks wore me out! but when it was all said and done, even with fewer climbs than i had expected, i still had fun. it was interesting to note the differenct techniques you guys used

I recommend Ortega falls. i always love a recommendation! i will have to look up where that is exactly.. Its south of Lake Elsinore in SoCal Its actually a fairly neat setting: lots of granite pools (when the water flows), nooks and cranies to explore. There are drawbacks though. It is a very short approach from Ortega HWY and is frequented by Bud Light Ice Dry Draft drinking spray paint can wielding folks with their elbows up, side to side. Looking past that though, the falls offer a very small spread of quality moderate climbs. Attached is a pic I took 3/12/08. Not sure if there is still any water.

I find it funny that the first time I did a multi-pitch route last year I took a pic of me in a hanging belay and I had a single daisy... then I got bashed for only having one daisy... and now I have two hahaha Over kill is always better :)

For instance, it is faster to sling a tree as an anchor than to look for a few marginal nuts. The rope can hold like 3 tons, a quick hitch is more than adequate. Just my 2 cents, you climb however is fun for you :D

Because in general, most people who do use a daisy chain to clip into an anchor carry and use only one and if they want to have a back up use the rope as either the back up or primary connection to the anchor, not a second daisy chain.

Well I prefer a PAS as my anchor backup. Since no one else mentioned what the specific issue is. The problem with daisy chains are they are only full strength end to end and the pockets are body weight only. See: http://www.gearexpress.biz/...mp;Product_Code=6980 A cheaper alternative to the daisy/PAS would be a 48" runner. Climb Safe
