Not climbing related, but thought I could find some helpful info here...

Will be in the area Sept 23-30. Planning to bring the fly rod and get in some backcountry fishing 26th-30th.

Initial research has me thinking about camping at Thunder Lake and fishing Thunder Lake, Hutcheson Lakes and perhaps Pear Lake and the associated streams.

Anyone thoughts on these destinations, or any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hey, send me an email at ross@flyfisherman.com or ross.purnell@imoutdoors.com

I have fly fished RMNP many times and even written about it in Fly Fisherman. Read here:

I'll be back there Sept. 16-10 but just climbing this year--no fishing.

I have not fished the lakes you mention but have heard good things about Hutcheson.

Big Crystal and Sandbeach are also good. From Sandbeech you could actually day hike Meeker or Long's Peak. I have a great photo of Sandbeach from the top of Meeker.

My favorite is Fern lake--fishing there is great, camp area perfect, and you can do day trips to spruce etc.
