Has anyone visited the new climbing gym at the new Action Sports in Bakersfield? It sounds small but anything is better than nothing. J

I go to the rock gym at action sports and I love it! On the downside, I am new to climbing and have not been to any other gyms so I cannot really compare. You should check it out if you haven't already!

Does anyone know where to climb close to the Bakersfield/ Boron Area other than the gym? I just moved to the area, looking to do some sport, and follow on trad.

The gym is small compared to other gyms that I have visited but it's still fun and a great work out. There is a bolder in the middle with lots of routes. It is not a great place to go without a climbing partner since it is hard to find a belay. Although 3 belays are free provided from an employee. The cost is $12 for the day. As far for outdoor climbing near Bakersfield go into the Western Sierra routes and you will find Lower Kern Canyon, New Directions Cliff, and Kernville Slab.

Anybody know if there is outdoor bouldering within Bakersfield city limits? I'm going to be down there visiting somebody (near Ming & Buena Vista) and wondered if there were any outdoor bouldering or buildering spots. Thanks. -Ralph

What about bouldering in the Kern River wash itself (which I will be close to)? Locations (GPS/Lat/Lon)?

i live in lake isabella, and I am a competent trad leader, sport lead, in both single and multi-pitch and love to boulder, i have no one to climb with, i was renting a place with the dude i used to climb with and he ditched when i was in jail and stole all my shit. so i dont have a climber and my gear, if you come up here and let me use your gear, i know a bunch of cool little cracks and boulders all the way up to multi- pitch trad climbing. message me on facebook at kalen.oldham@yahoo.com
