Yeah, ideally I'd take this girl to get her shoes fitted, but I can't (and I kinda wanna surprise her), so I'm asking for your help here.. girl wears a 39 euro on the regular, should I be getting her the original Mythos in a 38, or something smaller?

Also, is anyone wearing the women's Mythos? Is the fit better?

Thank you ladies,
A Clueless Boy

mythos do stretch, i sized down one size, they were tight but not uncomfortable. they now fit great, my favorite shoes. I never tried on the mens' mythos, but the women's mythos do have a nice heel cup, very comfortable.

hope that helps

I have two pairs of women's mythos and I definitely love them!! However, the first pair I bought was much too small. I wear a size 8 (38 1/2). My first pair of mythos were a size 36. I love them now, but it took them a year before they stretched out enough to fit me and even now, if the weather is warm and my feet swell up, they hurt. The second pair I bought were a size 38 and I love them! I've had them for over a year and I haven't noticed them stretch out at all. I know everyone says that mythos stretch out a lot, but that hasn't been the case for me. I am convinced that the only reason they stretch out so much is because people buy them too small and they don't fit and they have to stretch out. My feet are extremely narrow though so maybe I just didn't have wide enough feet to force the shoe to stretch out.

Anyway, I'd say getting her a women's size 38 should be about perfect.

Not so clueless, those are some nice shoes you're getting her!

I wear a 39 regular shoe (8-8.5) and have a pair of lady mythos in 37.5 and 38. I prefer the 38s, although both do fine...so a 38 is probably the right size for her. They'll be snug but still allow her toes to lie flat.

I'd go with the women's mythos unless your lady friend has pretty wide feet.

This is the same for me as well. What a great gift.

One size down from street shoe size. My first pair were street shoe sized when I was starting. Loved them, didn't know any better. Since they are unlined, they stretched a lot of over the years and 2 resolings, and began to feel like floppy clown shoes! Unwearable. So I bought some new ones this year, only went down a 1/2 size. I'm so bummed because I think I should've gone down 1 full size. I still have space in front of my big toe (although some of the other toes are touching the toebox).

If the shoes feel a bit tight, let your friend know that they will stretch with use and you don't want them getting too big. So at least she'll understand that they need to start snug.

BTW, both my pairs are the men's purple shoes and I have very ordinary average female feet (size 7, not narrow, not wide).

Mythos are awesome. They are La Sportiva's best selling shoes and they have no intention of changing of them.

I am on my second pair of these (having had the first pair re-soled twice...) and they are really comfy. Can't find them in the UK so I stock up on trips to the US. I wear mine pretty loose, but I only climb low grade and would rather have something that I can do multipitch, keep on all day, and even do a long walk off descent in if needed.
If she is a beginner maybe go loose. If a good climber then maybe she is more used to tight shoes.
