Does anyone know the name of the wall directly above the grotto? it has three bolted routes. I only climbed one but it fealt 5.10.

I think what you climbed was the far left routes of the Left Flank. My question to you is...how did you find those routes...Using the map in Anderson's book it looks like there is a trail off the main trail coming from the Java wall area but it deadends before you get to the 5.10s you mention. Did you access these routes from the Grotto area? If so, how? Was there a trail up there?

Hello clr288,
The area above the Grotto is referred to as the Upper Tier of the Left Flank. There are 3 bolted routes there;
* Welcome to Echo Cliffs (5.10a) - on the left
* Reverb (5.10a) - middle route
* Sasha (5.10c) - right route (6 bolts)
There are 3 approaches;
* From the top via the trail to Balance Rock from Split Rock/Mishi Mokwa.
* Scramble up the stream from the Grotto past Xanadu to a faint trail on the right.
* from the trail to Java Wall just before and below Bushed Coyote. It's a crude trail and not heavily used, but it leads to the Upper Tier and doesn't deadend. Just look around, probably to your right, you'll find it.
