Unaccountably, my boss approved next week off for me, so my gf and I are heading to Zermatt for some camping, hiking, via feratta, and maybe climbing.

my gf isn't skilled up for multi-pitch, so can anyone recommend sport climbing, or single pitch climbing in the area?Smile

Also, any other beta on the area, campsites etc would be welcome.

PS - Can anyone recommend a good guide for previously mentioned via feratta and climbing activities?

Nope! However, I do have the climbing guide for Southern Germany and Austria.... Save some time and we can multi-pitch...

There is this really good one-pitch area in the valley just before zermatt village, don't remember the name, but check in the Swiss Extreme guide, it's 3 star and nice pictures there!

Thanks UA Sunflower for the suggestion. We found this area by following verbal directions from a local (he didn't know the name also!). Unfortunately it was all wet (it rained a lot when we were there). There is also another neat little sport area just above the camps site in Täsch. Again, very wet.

The only sport area we found that was dry was near the start of a hike high on the gornergrat. But we didn't bring our climbing geatr (plus it looked a bit stout).

I also noticed that the latest issue of "Klettern" has a lot of features on Wallis (Valais). Looked like some reall nice multi-pitching at moderate grades, plus quite a lot of sport crags. I think it would be worth another trip back there when the weather is a bit nicer.
