Hi, I'm trying to plan a trip and line up a partner for a first trip to Yosemite in mid July. My schedule is pretty flexible but I've never been down there - where's a good place to look for partners? Two longer, easy aid routes sounds great.

Hopefully not burning the ropes while cooking dinner. I've done a little harder aid but never portaledged. What could possibly go wrong? Thanks for advise or interest.

Skills - old EMT+WEMT; club alpine & glacier classes; 5.9trad, WI4-5, M4 sport, IV; Bruce Lee quotes.

In camp 4 on the notice board behind the check in kiosk there is usually a note from someone looking for a partner. Also people go around site to site looking for partners (usually big wall). So stay in camp 4 and you will easily get a partner. I should add I have only been there in the fall and am not sure how much big wall climbing goes on in mid summer due to the heat.

Camp 4, and the bouldering areas above it. Ask everyone you run into and have a wish list ready so that people get the impression you want to climb, not talk about climbing (although that's fun too - but do that in the Mountain Bar or around a campfire at night).

As for big walls in the summer, it never stops. They just haul more beer.

This is really helpful - good to know there are enough people cruising around for partners! I'm guessing this and cascadeclimbers.com are the better online partner sources. I may and track down a gear shop bulletin board too. Thanks!
