So my friend and I are wanting to learn to climb but haven't the slightest clue where or how to start. So I'm basically just looking for some suggestions and possibly someone to go climbing with who has time and patience to teach a couple of very inexperienced people. Thanks!

find the closest gym where they'll teach you the basics of belaying, and start meeting other climbers at the gym

If you are from Maine, in the greater bangor area, you could try the OldTown/Orono YMCA climbing wall, or Mainebound at the University of Maine in Orono. I have not ventured farther away to other gyms.
