Oh it went clean. And it will never go again.

It will grow on you.
Once in a while its nice to have an "experience"

A few weeks ago I powerdogged up a 20 foot boulder problem of a route at The Outcrop, called "Fingertip Trip"
I just couldn't handle the pain, I should get back to it to get it clean soon though.

Nice job on the onsight. I'm a huge fan of long sleeves for that climb... Mostly because I managed to get a scrape through my t-shirt.

Hi everyone
My name is Daphne. I started climbing this year during my last semester of college and have totally fallen in love with the sport. I have a harness, shoes, and belay device/biner, and hopefully a rope soon. I'm from avon and it looks like I'm not too far from some good spots. I was wondering if anyone needs a partner or feels like showing me around the area.

Thanks :)

still no takers? im dying to do some climbing and i make a pretty mean trail mix...

i have no doubt that this gets repeated over and over and prolly gets a lil old for you pros out there but yea. im new to climbing so new in fact that i havent even gotten my forst pair of shoes looking at the evolv's. but the problem there in lies where in CT do i go aside from gyms. i am sure they are great for learning but, meh, i am more of an outdoors person and a pretty quick learner so...uh...yea.

eastern CT for the most part i am at the base in groton and looking for some climbs in this area and maybe someone with some patience to show me the ropes

I just found some neat bouldering on public land in Wilton, CT. Many dozens of problems along a couple of gneiss cliff-bands up to 20+ feet tall (but most problems not high-ball). Slabs, cracks, corners, cave-lets, roofs. Good, granite-like rock, mainly good landings. A lot of moss and no signs of climbers.

I don't live here, but I visit my folks here once in a while. I suppose I'll bring shoes, chalk, and wire brush with me next visit and "develop" the place a bit (to the extent I can, maxing out as I do around v4), and then post info about it.

But I'm curious if anyone already knows the place--maybe it's old news but hasn't been climbed in a while? Maybe it's some kind of secret and people would prefer I not spill the beans?

Also, if anyone in the area would be interested in joining me there sometime and can bring a pad, let me know.

Hello, I'm new to the forums. My girlfriend got me into climbing in the past year and we're both new to climbing in Connecticut. We went to visit Ragged Mountain the other day and hiked around to get a feel of the trails and take a look at the rock.

Unfortunately, when we got back to our car, a couple of windows had been smashed in and my iPod was stolen. We don't want this to keep us from climbing, but any suggestions on better access would be great.

Better yet, if anyone wants to meet up on a weekend (any time) and show us around, that would be awesome. We have all the necessary gear for top rope climbing.

I don't know where Sheldon is. It was our first time. We didn't get back until a little bit after dark, unfortunately.

Do you get back to your vehicle after dark at all?

Yeah, frequently. It's a well lit, residential street. Let me google map it for you.

Rattlesnake is definitely underrated I think, or folks are just too lazy to walk out there,

Twister has to be one of my all time favorite routes, and its not even in the guide book. A truly splitter crack in CT is rare indeed.

I remember doing that the first time, I think I was with Dudemanbu

Holy balls. I tried twister the other day... That thing flogged me silly. I got up to where the #3 tips out and then kept blowing off at the bulge. I couldn't get it. What's the grade on that thing. It felt like 5.10 to me, but it's probably way less and I'm just that bad at crack climbing. Definately an amazing line and the hardest thing I've ever tried leading. Fell of a bunch of times and then had no burl left and quit. Beautiful climb though, I"ll be back for it someday.

Sheldon Road or Sheldon St?

There's a Sheldon Road near Carey St. But what you googled is decent walk from Ragged.

Actually, that's the same link, but I see where it is you mean. I can't really say thank you enough for the suggestion as being able to climb without worrying about sitting on glass when you get back is nice lol

What's the easiest way up to the climbing rock up there. We were on a blue blaze/red dot trail from where we started before, and we only got as far as owl's lair, so we didn't get to see anything that's legal to climb.

From Sheldon st, you walk down and take a left on andrew st. continue past 4 or maybe 5 houses to the trailhead on the right. Be courteous to people you see outside, say hello, comment on their homes or yards, etc. It's about a 10 minute hike. You cross a small stream (watch mud on the other side) and continue up to slightly steeper terrain. Bear left when you see the cliffs. Right goes to owl's lair, small cliff, may crack block, etc.
