In August, I will be in Denver for a conference (I am a PhD-student from Belgium). I will stay a few more days after the end of the conference (August 10) and my flight back (August 15). During these days, I hope to do some climbing around Denver. Maybe sportclimbing, if I can find one or more climbing partners, otherwise I'll have to stick to bouldering. I did not arrange anything yet (apart from the conference and the flights to Denver and back). So I have quite some questions: -which climbing areas would be best in this time of the year? -is anyone interested in climbing with me on one or more days (August 11, 12, 13 and 14)? -are there campings or can I sleep in a tent anywhere I want? Or do I better look for a place to stay? -is the public transportation ok? What about hitchhiking? -...

You should be able to find plenty of partners... boulder is full of climbers. Definitely go to Eldo, Boulder Canyon, and Clear Creek.... Table Mountain if you're desperate (which despite being really short, actually has some pretty good climbs). If for some reason you get to Denver and still don't have a partner, there's some nifty bouldering at flagstaff in boulder. You could always stop by the rei or wilderness exchange in Denver, or Neptune in boulder and ask around for partners. As far as camping... there's very few places to camp in city limits. There is an rv park with camping in golden. Your best bet is to hike into some blm lands out of town and set up. Edited to add: oh and then there's: http://www.couchsurfing.com

Thank you for this information already! For whom it may concern: my climbing level is around 5.12a.

I would definitely go to Clear Creek Canyon. There is more sport there then you can do in a year and the rock is great. I don't know about camping anywhere close though. Contact me in a couple of weeks if you cant find anyone to go with and I might be able to go with you, but I wont know until it gets closer. Good Luck!
