Beartooth Mountains/Absaroka Wilderness Bouldering?  (North_America: United_States: Montana: South_West)

I've been traveling to Red Lodge and surrounding areas for years. I spend a lot of time hiking in the Beartooth Mountains and the Absaroka Wilderness but I have never been able to get a clear direction on where to boulder. With all that rock, there has to be some sweet boulders around. Does anyone know of any problems in this area or off of the Beartooth Highway on the plateau possibly? Any guidance would be most helpful. Thank you.

The Rock Creek drainage is your best bet for pebble wrasslin'. John Gill put up some problems there during his pass-throughs a while back. The most obvious (and infamous) one is 6-7 miles on the dirt/gravel road and prominently stands overlooking the "end" of the valley that it sits in.

Hopefully, that gets you started--click on the photos, too, as there is some more beta thrown out there.

edit: Molly Kohler's Montana Bouldering guide ( www.firstascentpress.com ) will include this area in it, but it won't be out until late-fall.
