I'm new to climbing in Iowa. Does anyone have any maps of Pictured Rocks climbing area that they could email me or send me a link for. I have been looking all over for info on it and the only thing I can find is that the book Wild Iowa should have info. But I cant find a copy of the book for less than the cost of another rope... any help or suggestions would be amazing. Thanks.

(**Edit** I was looking for a map with routes for Pictured Rocks in IOWA. Sorry for any Confusion

I am SO sorry that you're in Iowa! I use to live in Florida where there was NO climbing and I know how it feels. I don't know Iowa climbing areas. I'm originally from MN and I bet you could drive up to Blue Mounds in SW Minnesota and get some climbing there. I have friends in Stillwater, IA who are in your same boat.

Best of luck!

MagicWIU,

Do you now live in the Iowa City area? If so, you might pay a visit to the Iowa City sporting goods store called 'Fin and Feather' and ask them about Pictured Rocks and guide book information. They have some stuff behind the counter to show, but not for sale. Staff are very helpful, and can clue you in on other fine places in the area.

It would be helpful if we could add some kind of overview map of the area to go with the route descriptions. I get confused with the 'areas'.

Collins wall is right by the parking lot. Then to the north it's Wild, Mild, A-wall -- C-wall, and then??? well, then I get confused. It's a fun place to hike, and as a beginner, I'm enjoying the climbing.

Good luck in your quest for info about this area.
