Hey people,

I am looking for people who are familiar with sport climbing around Barcelona & in Southern France. I will be around there January 2003 and of course I am packing my climbing shoes and harness .

Thanks for the info!

yo you know there are a couple of places near Barclona you don't need to have a car to get to one of these is Montserrat, rodella, terradet's and Siruana they are all easy to get to siurana is near to reus but from reus you have to take a post bus that is a little tricky or just get a cab.. rodella is hard steep climbing and not a lot inbetween same with terradet's Montserrat is perhaps the closest and has the most variety other than siruana of course.. email me if you want some more info..

You have to try Bioux in southern France near Avignon. You can stay at a camp ground in Bonnieux which is near to Bioux. It's great !

Just a word about the camping in Bonnieux. I spent a couple of weeks there in Oct and had a blast, climbing at crags all over the area. Marcel, the camp host, mentioned that the campground was closing for the winter just a few weeks after I was leaving. You might want to call before if headed there. 04.90.75.86.14 His english is limited, so speak s l o w l y. Good luck!

The weather for climbing in S-France and Spain is just perfect in winter, not too hot but chances of rain are higher.

re camping for Buoux: generally most campsites close from October to April but usually there is always one that stays open. You can try the one in Apt which is in the middle of town but not very picturesque on a dreary piece of dirt. There is also a "gite-d'etappe" i.e. hostel in walking distance to the wall.

Near Apt there is also a campground in Bonnieux which is very beautiful. The village is very nice, the landscape aonderful. But I don't know if it is open now.
