Reinhold Messner has apparently set up his own line of fragrances and cosmetics. While I usually smell like a Yeti at the end of a climbing day, Messner's fragrances, 'Messner Mountain Moments', are dedicated to the eight-thousanders. The man can apparently go without bottled oxygen, as long as he smells fresh and clean! Maybe that's his secret! http://www.suedtirol.info/...re/PleasureEntryPage Natural cosmetics range by Reinhold Messner The legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner has developed a range of cosmetics and perfumes in co-operation with the biological herb producer "Kräutergold". The former climber and explorer is the founder of the “Messner Mountain Museum”, MMM for short, accommodated in four different locations and dedicated to the theme of “Mountain”. Given his lasting contribution to discovery of the natural world, it seems fitting that a farmer working on biological principles should be growing salubrious herbs for Reinhold Messner close to his home and castle Schloss Juval in the Val Venosta/Vinschgau Valley. Active substances are extracted from edelweiss, thyme, marigold and sage and used to produce the toiletry range “Messner Mountain Moments”. There are 14 products corresponding to the number of “eight-thousanders” (mountains exceeding 8,000 m or 26,246 ft altitude) which Messner has conquered, and include lotions, lip balm, sun cream and peelings. The perfume range “Messner Mountain Magic” also corresponds to the number of “eight-thousanders” and has been released simultaneously. At present it comprises a scent for men and another for women. “Nanga Parbat” and “Manaslu” are filled in flacons which can later be reused as hip flasks. Messner’s product range can be ordered on-line and found in the "Kräuterschlössl" (herb castle) at Coldrano/Goldrain, in the “Vinschger Bauernladen” (“farm shop” – together with farm products), in the Messner Mountain Museums and in selected hotels. The “Vinschger Bauernladen” shop is located in the Val Venosta/Vinschgau valley in the village of Naturno/Naturns at the entrance to the Val Senales/Schnalstal valley, at the address Hauptstrasse 78.
