I get a lot of people asking how I built the mini roofs on my wall so I thought I should post this. I ran across an online article on how to build them. I guess route setters call the "volumes". It isn't the same way I built mine, I don't know if their method would work for our biggest feature, but it would have worked fine for the two smaller ones. http://www.routesetter.com/...improvement-volumes/

put on the wall and all the holds up.. having 2 panels up now makes a huuuge difference.. so much more movement and potential. now i just need more holds :)

Looks great jake. How did you actually fasten it to the wall? Just toe screw in through the base? I thought of doing similar, and screwing a couple scrap 2x4s to the surface of the wall, then screwing straight in through the side of the volume into the 2x4s. Maybe excessive, but effective.

Yea... 3 screws on top.. 3 on bottom.. one each side toed in. we had trouble at first and thought about the 2x4 idea but 2nd try was the charm and got the angle right. I just have to make sure to check once in a while to make sure nothing is pulling out

Hey dude, just one comment, probably stooopid but I'll say anyways. A lot of ceiling insulators can be harmful/carcinogenic if inhaled. They also cause mad ichyness in some cases. Might wanna cover up them holes in the ceiling.

hey, it's just normal fiberglass insulation.. i washed my hands and arms and stuff after touching it when i was putting it up... now i don't touch it at all when i'm climbing. I'm not going to be living here very long and the whole wall is going to get taken apart and moved somewhere eventually so it's not a big deal for me.
