Hi RC guys!

I found a picture of a route in granite rock i think...

http://www.acclaimimages.com/cgi-bin/photobase/comps.pl?do=get_comp&image_number=0432-0805-2517-0431

and i have a question... what type of climbing is in the picture of the link above...

Is that route an AID climbing route? or is a one hard SPORT route? The kind of rock is granite, right?

i'd suspect it was sport slab and not as steep as it may look. or there may be crimps and edges that are not visible in the picture

I may be off base here but that looks like a ROCK CLIMB to me. Probably a free slab route established on ground up lead, bolts hand drilled without benefit of aid.

California.

Thank you! I'm emulating him because I've been here longer than he has but he has thee million more posts than I do. I want to be more like him (i.e., having less time to climb so I can type more on RC.com). Wink

"If women ruled the world there would be no wars, just be a bunch of jealous countries not talking to each other."

BTW. I love that tagline. My wife laughed when I shared it with her.

This is definitely a free slab climb. if it were aid, the bolts would most likely be straight above each other instead of wandering like they do. I would also say that it is probably trad and not sport because it looks like the bolts used are 5/16" button heads which are common for lead bolting. The trad part is just speculation, it could have been bolted on rap.
