Don't know exactly what your looking for in a moderate winter route... Some of my favorites in Colorado Front Range (that's as east as I go) are: Kelso Ridge on Torreys Bierstadt to Evans via Sawtooth Ridge Little Pawnee to Pawnee in the Indian Peaks Donner Ridge on Mt. Ypsilon Mt. Meeker via the Loft All of these are relatively easy given good conditions. You can find info about the routes in Gerry Roach's guides to CO 14ers and the Indian Peaks and in Rossiter's guide to RMNP. There's plenty of harder stuff out there.

mt. washington is a pretty gnarly hill in the winter. at 6288-feet it's home to some of the world's worst weather. there is a lot of similarly exposed terrain in the Whites and Greens that is not as tall. these aren't going to take you a week to climb and there's no danger of AMS, but they're a lot of fun and very beautiful. the folks from the mountaineering committee of the boston AMC chapter might have some more info for you. good luck.

You might want to think about Mt. Katahdin. You need to be in a group of at least 4 to get a permit to enter the park. It is also a long approach to get to the base of the mountian, about 13 miles on foot. Once you are in there is an amazing amount to alpine ice to climb.

Not that I'm an expert in alpine climbs, seeing as that I've really never done one. However, I have heard the Smuggler's Notch, in Vermont is pretty good. Granted, not a mountain, more of a longish ice route. Technical ice, that is. Two-axe stuff. Maybe that's not what you're looking for. Just hearsay.
