Fellow Climbers Having just left Indian Creek, I'm thinking of heading that way, my only concern is the availability of climbing partners, not only on the weekends. Is there an area in which it will be easier to find consistent partners during the first couple weeks of December? Thanks for the help! Brad splitterday@gmail.com

You could have some good weather days and some bad. You should have temps above 50 F some of the time. For partners......I think your best bet would be to hang out at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. Couldn't tell you how many people will be there.

I'm sure that there will be people at horseshoe in all but the worst weather, on the weekends at least, and you can always come to La Casa Pollo in bad weather and meet some people and see where they will be climbing. Elliott

Climbing is good during the winter just bring some extra clothes and pick a rock face with direct exposure to the sun. We usually get a few 60deg days around Christmas unless it is just a blown out year. If you don't have a partner just find a group and tag along, most everyone is nice enough to let you join. If you do get someone who wont let you join then they are probably out of stater's!!!

I climb at Horseshoe Canyon weekly throughout most of the year (live just an hour away)--50 degrees is fine on the sunny routes, this week has been beautiful! I enjoy winter climbing more than summer. Summers are hot, humid, buggy, and crowded...... On second thought, winter sucks here--stay away. CM

Winter is the best time to climb in AR. I have lived here all my life and I can tell you for certain that the best weather we get comes in the winter, because summer and spring can be hot as heck. If anyone complains about a little Arkansas cold then just wait until june and go out. As far as the thread I would say that you should climb as much in the cold as you can. Take some warm clothes and if you are climbing sport throw a hot-hands in your chalk bag. You won't complain about the cold once you have been out in 90 degree muggy weather. Besides cold weather makes for the best friction ever.
